HERE is the latest extract from the diary of leading British Touring Car Championship driver Dave Newsham.

'We missed out on the reverse grid by one place for race three as the number nine was drawn placing Tom Onslow-Cole on pole position. This would sum up our luck!

Holding my 10th place off the start, I was challenging Dan Welsh for ninth. Getting alongside him, Dan moved over pushing me off the track and giving me a puncture in the process.

I pitted for a new tyres and rejoined the race just behind a recovering Dan Welsh, who had been spun off the track by Mat Jackson.

The safety car was out to recover Liam Griffin’s crashed Ford Focus. This allowed me to get onto the back of the field.

Safety car in and we were racing again. Into the hairpin, everyone ahead of me moved to the right to defend the inside line.

I decided to brake late down the outside. Just as I decided to do that, Dan Welsh moved over to the left and I hit the back of him hard.

With damage to my front bumper, it was time for me to call it a day!

Needless to say, this was a dismal weekend, but you sometimes get in motorsport. Let us just hope for much better at Croft on Sunday 24th June.'
