A STRONG finish to the British Touring Car Championship season is the target for Dave Newsham and Team ES Racing.

The penultimate round takes place at Silverstone this weekend, before the championship finishes at Brands Hatch with the final three races on Sunday 21st October.

After the disappointment of Rockingham last time out, Inverness driver Newsham is optimistic that better fortunes are ahead as he looked to bring the curtain down on a solid campaign that has seen him feature amongst the top 10 standing on the leaderboard.

"I am really looking forward to Silverstone," said the 45-year-old, who is currently eighth in the overall drivers standings having amassed 151 points. "It’s one of my favourite tracks on the calendar as I have always gone well there.

"It was the venue of my very first win in the 2009 Elf Renault Clio Cup, in 2010 we secured pole position and a win, and last year I secured my best result of fourth in my first year of BTCC racing the STR Seat Leon.

"At the official BTCC media and test day in March, I produced the fastest lap time of 58.965 seconds, which was more than three tenths quicker than the work’s Hondas, and inside the pole position time from last year.

"The last two rounds have been hampered somewhat by turbo boost reductions on my car mainly due to our pace at Snetterton.

"However, we should have a chunk of boost back for Silverstone as the boost is set from our lap times of the last two events, which despite winning at Knockhill, haven’t been great.

"Just a fortnight later, we will be heading to Brands Hatch, this time on the full Grand Prix circuit, and we know how quick we are round there having secured pole position and a podium position earlier in the season.

"We certainly have every reason to believe we will have a great end to the season."

Meanwhile, Newsham is appealing to potential sponsors to contact him directly if they wish to promote themselves during the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.

"None of this can be done without my fabulous sponsors, so a massive thank you to each and every one of you," he said.

"We still have the bonnet space available on my car for Brands Hatch to companies who would like to be involved.

"Your logo could be big on there, displaying to the 40,000 strong crowds and live ITV coverage, offering unbeatable exposure for your brand.

"We have fabulous statistics proving advertising on my BTCC car generated massive website traffic. My sponsor coffeedrops receives upwards of a 2500 per cent increase in website hits at each of the BTCC rounds.

"We also offer great hospitality to invite customers, staff and suppliers to a great day out."
