ROSS County’s latest signings impressed in the Dingwall side’s 3-0 friendly win at League Two hosts Elgin City on Saturday.

Dutchman Jordi Balk, who arrived from Utrecht on Friday, played in front of the back four, while Scott Boyd was partnered by another new capture, Belgian Tim Dreesen, whose last club was Fortuna Sittard in Holland.

Former Leicester City youngster Ben Frempah was effective in a holding role in a slick 4-1-4-1 formation as County backed up their midweek 4-0 win at Rothes with another good display.

Two other trialists, who manager Derek Adams is not yet naming, played in the full-back roles, with the defensive areas the priority for filling after Ben Gordon, Evangelos Oiknomou and Brian McLean moving on this summer.

County took the lead on 26 minutes at Elgin when Yoann Arquin crossed the ball for Rocco Quinn who supplied a cool finish past former Staggies and ICT keeper Michael Fraser.

Early in the second half, County doubled their advantage when captain Richard Brittain, who hit a double at Rothes, crashed home an unstoppable shot from 25 yards after being picked out by Balk.

The scoring was completed soon after when Arquin headed past Fraser after being set up by Joe Cardle.

Elgin, who beat Clach 2-1 on Wednesday, were without skipper Jamie Duff, midfielder Brian Cameron and strikers Dennis Wyness and Craig Gunn and boss Barry Wilson expects their returns raise the standards.

County’s preparations for the new Scottish Premiership season continue on Tuesday night with a trip to Clach before Saturday away day at Nairn County.

Next week, the Dingwall club travel to Holland, with the trip concluding with a game against FC Twente next Friday night.
