FORMER players Addie Robertson and Victor Smith have been appointed as co-managers of Fort William Shinty Club.

The pair, who enjoyed trophy-laden success with the An Aird club, succeed Peter MacIntyre, who stepped down at the end of the 2012 season due to work commitments after three years in charge.

The appointment was confirmed this week at a meeting of the club’s committee.

Chairman Richard Gall told the Lochaber News: “Addie and Victor are the two I wanted all along and I’ve spent the last few weeks working to convince them that they were the right guys for the job.

“They wanted a bit of time to think about it but confirmed to me on Sunday that they were up for it.

“I put it to the committee this week and it was approved unanimously.

“To me we’ve got the perfect combination. Addie was a class defender and Victor a brilliant forward. In their shinty careers they’ve been there, done that and got the T-shirt and will bring that wealth of experience to the team.

“I’m very pleased and I’m very optimistic that Fort William Shinty Club can be a real force in the Premiership and cup competitions next season.”
