Matheson had held the role for almost six years, having been appointed in June 2016, before stepping down and being offered the title of honorary president.

Kelman, meanwhile, arrives with a strong business background.

Born in Inverness, the former Invergordon Academy pupil founded Dress Code Solutions in 2010, and was the runner-up in the Highland Business of the Year award in 2012 before being awarded the PTYBS award for business growth the following year.

More awards followed, as Kelman was a finalist in the Institute of Directors’ young director of the year award in 2014 – the same year he won the Young Scot Award for enterprise.

Dress Code Solutions was sold to MacGregor Industrial Supplies in 2015, and while Kelman has been in several roles since then he is currently a director at automotive group Goodtread Tyre and Autocare.

“It is an honour for me to have been offered this position and I am absolutely delighted to accept,” Kelman said upon taking over as chairman.

“I have had positive discussions with the Management Committee and it was immediately clear to me that the club has a dedicated, passionate and hard-working group of volunteers who put a fantastic amount of work into running the club on a day-to-day basis.

“That was a huge draw for me as there is definitely the drive and ambition there to move the club forward, which is something we will be working towards.

“I would like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to Donald Matheson and the great work he has done in his time as Chairman to take us to where we are now. There are some great foundations at the club for us to build from in the coming years.

“I am looking forward to meeting everyone at the club over the next few weeks as we head into the new season, including the players and the fans. I am up for the challenge ahead and I cannot wait to get started.”
