NAIRN is preparing itself for another knock-out running event which is set to take place on Boxing Day.
Nairn Road Runners will be welcoming entries for the 2023 Nairn Turkey Trot which will be taking place on Tuesday.
The 5K event which returned last year for the first time in three years attracted around 160 entries for the festive fun run.
The race has a twist where the winner is not the one who runs the distance in the fastest time, but the runner who guesses the closest prediction to their time.
Nairn Road Runners chairman Kevin Reid is expecting another large turnout for the event when it takes place on Tuesday.
He said: "Entries will be accepted on the day where people can pay to take part or they can enter for free if they run in fancy dress.
"The Turkey Trot is an event which is always well attended.
"Last year we had around 160 runners and it usually those sort of numbers that we get attending the event.
"If people turn up in proper fancy dress, and not just wearing a Santa hat, they can enter the race for free.
"No timekeeping devices will be allowed during the race, including watches and GPS.
"Runners will have to put in a predictive time beforehand and whoever gets closest to their time will be declared the winner."
Reid says the Turkey Trot has become a much loved tradition in the town for over a decade with people from further afield than Nairn usually taking part.
"There will be runners of all abilities taking part in the Turkey Trot," he said.
"Families running with their kids, club runners, people who are out running once a year, people of all abilities."
"It is a good event which people look forward to.
"For a lot of families in Nairn, the Turkey Trot is part of Christmas."
Registration for the event on Boxing Day will be taking place at the Nairn Seamans Hall between 10am and 10.45am.
The race itself will start at 11.15am with the winner being declared at the Seamans Hall afterwards.
