RONNIE Sharp says Nairn County’s success in their long term plan to become a top half team in the Highland League again led to him signing a new deal.

He agreed a new contract to stay in charge at Station Park until the end of 2022.

Sharp arrived as manager of Nairn in 2016 at a time the club was in turmoil after a change in ownership and was left with six first-team players.

Sharp paid tribute to the players and staff for helping Nairn overcome a difficult time as they look to re-establish themselves as a force in the Highland League.

“The first season was all about getting a team on the park after all the departures when we started with just six players two weeks before the season started,” he said.

“It was always going to take time as there was a lot of quality players who went out the door. Everything was completely new and everyone has worked hard so it has been great.

“The total backing from the chairman down to the committee on the football side of things has been really good.”
