Captain Fraser Dingwall admits Nairn County will be fired up to create a major upset as they scratch a seven-year itch in cup action on Wednesday night.

The Wee County host Caley Thistle in their first semi-final bow since 2016’s Highland League Cup win over Turriff United. Nairn went on to lose the final to Brora Rangers in a penalty shoot-out.

It is over a decade since the club last lifted a trophy and there is a powerful desire within Steven Mackay’s squad to end the famine.

“This is a big opportunity for the club to try to win some silverware,” defender Dingwall said.

“We’re really looking forward to the game, actually – it is going to be a really good test for us. We’re going to go into it fighting. Of course we’ll be underdogs – everybody knows that – but we’ll give it our best shot.”

ICT will field a side packed with fringe first team squad players, with the likes of Austin Samuels, Zak Delaney and Adam Brooks featuring in the last round against Rothes.
