GOALSCORING defender Sean Webb would rather that Nairn kept clean sheets than have him finding the back of the net.

Former Ross County centre-back Webb has netted three in three games for Nairn, earning the nickname “prolific” in training from his Wee County team-mates.

However, as he eyes his fourth straight game with a goal at home to Buckie Thistle tomorrow, he would much rather Nairn kept the door shut at the other end.

“It might be a strange thing to say, but I’d much rather we got clean sheets than me scoring a few goals,” said Webb. “Conor Gethins has been scoring and a few other boys have been chipping in, so hopefully that takes the pressure off me a bit.

“It’s normally a case of spreading my goals out over the season but I seem to have got them all in one go. Hopefully that’s not them drying up now.”

Webb grabbed the opening goal against Rothes last weekend, following a goal in the 4-1 win over Lossiemouth and the winner in the North of Scotland Cup quarter-final against Strathspey Thistle.

A new addition to the County side this season could be behind Webb’s goal surge.

“The one thing that’s changed is the delivery from set pieces. We’ve got Kenny McKenzie this season, who’s a left-footer, so the delivery has been different,” said Webb. “It’s always been right-footers in the past.”

Buckie have won their last two games against Fraserburgh and Clach after a poor start to the season.

Nairn will not be taking the Jags lightly at Station Park, said Webb.

“They have got a relatively new management setup and it’s their first full season after just finishing playing,” he said. “It will take time for them to get their views across and we won’t be taking them lightly.

“We have changed from a back three to a back four this season, with Andy Skinner and Glenn Main often playing out wide. It certainly helps having that flexibility with work commitments, injuries and particularly in Mo Morrison’s case, suspensions.”

Nairn boss Les Fridge expects to be without Andrew Hardwick, Wayne MacKintosh, Tony Wallace and Martin MacDonald for the game tomorrow.
