Nairn County picked up their second win of the season in the Highland League as they saw off Wick Academy at Station Park.

Ciaran Young scored in the first half with Conor Gethins doubling their advantage midway through the second half before Young found the net again as Nairn County moved to 14th place in the table with Wick remaining in 12th.

Andrew Greig had the first shot of the match which was a wicked deflection which Graeme Williamson had to dive to divert around the left post.

But the deadlock was broken after eight minutes when Ciaran Young ran on to a Stephen Rennie pass and managed to run past goalkeeper Williamson before firing into the net from a tight angle.

Wick Academy created chances to equalise, with Alan Hughes coming closest with a powerful effort which stung the hands of Will Counsell who held comfortably.

Nairn County started the second half brightly and came close to doubling their advantage with Young and Fraser Dingwall both testing Williamson in goal and he pulled off two decent saves.

But Nairn doubled the advantage midway through the second half with Gethins arriving into the box unchallenged to fire home a Greig cross home from close range.

Nairn then killed the game off 15 minutes from time as Young got the final touch after a scramble in the box to fire home.
