NAIRN County won their first trophy in 11 years as they came from behind to defeat Ross County and win the North of Scotland Cup.

In an incredible encounter, Nairn were two goals down in the first half and then went in front, only for Ross County to score with the final kick in normal time to force extra time.

Nairn took the lead twice in extra time in between Ross County's equaliser to eventually hold on for victory at Grant Street Park in Inverness.

Ross County dominated the early stages of the match and took the lead when they were awarded a penalty after just three minutes.

Goalkeeper Dylan Maclean was guilty of bringing down Alex Samuel in the box. The striker made no mistake as he fired his spot-kick into the bottom right corner.

Samuel then doubled Ross County's advantage midway through the first half as a cross into the box resulted in a scramble before the striker managed to nod home to make it 2-0.

But Nairn County fought back to level the game at half time, with Aaron Nicolson scoring both goals.

His first came in the 32nd minute whenNicolson pounced on defender's Josh Reid failure to clear a cross from the box and he pounced to fire home from eight yards.

He equalised for Nairn two minutes before half time when he connected with a pass from Ali GIllies and fired past Sean Munro.

Nicolson then claimed his hat-trick midway through the second half from the penalty spot after George Harmon was guilty of holding Ben Kelly in the box.

Nairn were seconds away from winning the North of Scotland Cup in normal time, before Calum Brown's shot was judged to have crossed the line and forced extra time.

Two minutes into extra time, Ben Kelly scored with a curling effort from outside the box which found the top right corner.

But Samuel equalised for Ross County minutes later when he charged into the box before firing a low drive past Maclean.

However, just before half time in extra time, Sam Gordon nodded a cross from the right wing to regain the lead for Nairn and they held on for victory.
