It comes as Aidan Cruickshank arrived on loan at Station Park from Elgin City until the end of the season, having previously played on loan at Strathspey Thistle.

Mackay, who was previously assistant manager at Elgin City, is keen to strengthen the link with the League Two outfit which he believes can benefit both clubs.

“We have the connection with Elgin City which we are hoping to strengthen this season and next season,” he said.

“Hopefully this arrangement will be good for both clubs.

“This is an opportunity for Aidan to show what he can do.

“He will look to force his way into our starting line-up and be a better and stronger player.

“He had a good spell at Strathspey and stood out against us and hopefully he can show us what he can do in the coming weeks.”

Meanwhile, Nairn County have gone nine games unbeaten in the Highland League after a sensational 3-0 win over Banks O’Dee at Station Park on Saturday.

Kenny McKenzie gave Nairn the lead after 18 minutes in a counter attack when he linked up well with Andrew Greig with a neat 1-2 before firing into the back of the net.

Five minutes later, Ross Tokely doubled Nairn County’s advantage with a sensational strike from outside the box which left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Andrew Greig killed the game off on the stroke of half time when he took a pass at the edge of the box – his superbly struck right foot effort curled home at the far post.

Nairn County will look to go 10 games unbeaten when they go up against title contenders Buckie Thistle at Station Park on Saturday.
