Liam Shewan is no longer a Nairn County player, the club have announced.

The 27-year-old has agreed to sign for another club after a conversation with Wee County boss Steven Mackay, where he was told his contract would not be renewed at the end of the season.

It brings a four-year association with Nairn to a close, having signed for the club in December 2018 from Clachnacuddin.

In total he would play 75 times for the club, scoring 19 goals and claiming Nairn's top scorer award in the shortened 2019/20 season.

Steven Mackay said: "Liam's contract was due to expire in the summer and I had an honest conversation with him in regards to his place in our future plans moving forward.

"An opportunity came up for Liam to move to a new club and it was one he wanted to pursue now, so rather than wait until the end of the season, we felt it was in the best interests of Liam and the club to get the deal done.

"Liam has been great to work with in my time at the club and I wish him all the best with his move."

Nairn director of football, Graeme Macleod, echoed those good wishes, saying: "We would all like to thank Liam for his service to Nairn County and wish him well with his new challenge.

"He has been a consistent performer for us over the last four years and brought a lot of positive qualities to our squad. I am sure he will be a success with his new club.

"Everyone at the club would like to wish Liam all the best for the future and we look forward to seeing him again soon."
