It is last chance saloon for Jade Konkel and Scotland in their bid to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Rugby World Cup tomorrow morning.

Konkel (below) and her teammates face a tough task against a New Zealand side who are the second highest ranked side in the entire tournament, and who have already won Pool A.

Scotland must win to have any chance of getting through, with a best third-placed spot their only hope of progressing.

For that to happen, they would need Canada – already through as likely Pool B winners – to beat USA. Alternatively, the combination of France beating Fiji and an unlikely win for South Africa against tournament favourites England would also see Scotland progress.

It is the first time that Munlochy’s Konkel has played in a World Cup, as Scotland’s first ever women’s professional helped her country to the showcase for the first time since 2010.

Scotland’s match against New Zealand is due to kick off at 4.45am UK-time.

Should they make it into the knockout rounds, their next match would take place on either Saturday, October 29 or Sunday, October 30.
