BOSS Derek Adams vows to look at further potential Ross County signings this month as he runs the rule over a range of trialists.

Six players – all defenders – are at the Dingwall club and have featured in the 2-1 defeat at Wick Academy on Saturday and the 4-0 win at Rothes on Tuesday.

The Staggies manager, who refuses to name the players - has been more than happy with their effort and potential and will see how they fare this Saturday in the friendly at League Two side Elgin City.

He said: "They have all impressed me and the coaching staff. They have quality and they have blended in well with the other players.

"July is always busy, but we have been doing our homework on players. We have 14 players signed up for the first-team and we have scope to add to that.

"There is a possibility that we will look at more players this month because we have scope to add to the squad. Of the six trialists, some are younger players. There are two 20-year-olds and an 18-year-old, so they are all not first-team players.

"We’ll watch the trialists again when we play at Elgin on Saturday. They have all trained well and shown good attitudes and played well in the matches so far. I haven’t made a decision on anyone yet."

He added: "It’s always good going to Elgin and the pitch is always in good condition. It’s another step up for us and we will enjoy going there."

One of the trialists popped up with a first half volley at Rothes on Tuesday and a late double from skipper Richard Brittain eased County 3-0 in front.

New recruit Jake Jervis opened his account for the club with a late close-range effort to round off the scoring.

Adams said: "It’s always nice to get 90 minutes of football at this time of year. We have played two games, against Wick and Rothes, and we have another four to go before the season starts. Everyone is getting their fitness levels up. I have been happy with that and only Liam Boyce has been out with a niggle and hopefully he will be back next week.

"It was good for Richard Brittain and Jake Jervis to get on the scoresheet. Rothes were tiring a bit and you do get opportunities. I thought everyone involved on Tuesday performed really well."

County’s pre-season games continue next week with Clach away on Tuesday and Nairn County away a week on Saturday before their trip to Holland to lock horns with FC Twente on Friday, August 1.

Defender Brian McLean, who rejected a new deal to stay at Ross County last month, is training with League One side Coventry City, which is bossed by his former Rangers team-mate Steven Pressley.

The 29-year-old has hinted at moving to America, with interested clubs tracking him.
