Mixed results for Inverness teams on opening day of netball league

Inverness teams experienced mixed results on the opening day of the Highland and Moray Netball League.

Inverness Rubies got their campaign off to a great start as they thrashed Lossie North 76-8 with Rachel Robertson starring with an impressive performance.

Inverness Sapphires suffered defeat in their opening game as they lost 45-35 to Lossie East.

The first quarter was evenly paced, nearly goal for goal, however Lossie East’s swift centre court play and their formidable goal shooter saw them take a commanding lead by the third quarter.

Sapphires had a final strong quarter but were unable to close the gap.

Leia Pol was named as Sapphires player of the match.

The newly formed Inverness Emeralds went down to a 38-19 defeat to Fyrish Flyers.

It was an even match for three quarter before Fyrish pulled away in the final quarter to claim victory.

Nora Benhagn was named as Emeralds' player of the match.

WATCH: Inverness Netball Club have entered four teams into the Highland and Moray League for the first time with over 50 players at the club.

The league returns to actions on Saturday, September 30 at Inverness Royal Academy Sports Centre when Inverness Diamonds will play their first game of the season.
