NATHAN Shaw says Inverness Caledonian Thistle have to play better than they did against Raith Rovers if they want to stay top of the Scottish Championship.

Inverness came from behind to salvage a point against Raith in a 1-1 draw at the Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.

But they were forced to withstand long periods of attack from Raith, who created a number of chances in the second half to take the lead.

Shaw says his team deserved to be at the top of the league at this stage, with five wins from their last seven league matches.

But he feels Inverness have to play a lot better than they did against Raith Rovers on Saturday if they want to remain at the summit.

“It is another point on the board and we are top of the league so we can’t complain,” he said.

“But we have to do better as I felt we let ourselves down earlier on in the game.

“However, our boys did show great character to come back and get the point.

“All the points add up and hopefully they will send us where we want to be at the end of the season.”

Shaw (21) arrived at Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer after playing for English National League North club AFC Fylde last season.

He says he is enjoying the challenge and looking to keep Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s title bid going to win promotion to the Premiership.

“I am really enjoying it so far,” says Shaw.

“Obviously it has been a good start for us, we are up there at the top of the Championship.

“I just want us to keep that going.

I want to help the team as much as I can in whatever role that I am needed to play in.

“We are going into every match wanting three points.

“All our focus is now looking ahead to Greenock Morton on Friday and we will see what happens.”
