REECE McAlear insists Inverness Caledonian Thistle know where things are going wrong and how to put them right to end their winless streak in the Championship.

Caley Thistle have now gone five league matches without a win and have dropped to third in the division, four points behind leaders Kilmarnock.

Last weekend saw Inverness throw away their lead to go down 2–1 to bottom of the table Dunfermline Athletic at the Caledonian Stadium.

Midfielder McAlear, who is on loan from English Premiership club Norwich City this season, says the club have been working hard to make sure they put things right as they head to Queen of the South tomorrow night and get their title challenge back on track.

“We had a meeting about the last game and we know where we went wrong and we need to fix that and get back to winning ways,” said McAlear.

“We should have picked up more points than we have and this week is a chance to bounce back and make the fans happy again.

“We have been dominating games and it is maybe a lack of concentration, playing in the wrong areas and not seeing games out.

“But it is down to a lack of goals as well.

“But we know how to fix that, now we need to show it and do it.”

McAlear said the first half against Dunfermline Athletic was a good showing from Inverness and deserved to be 1–0 in front.

But he said in the second half, the team allowed the equaliser to affect them, which eventually resulted in defeat.

“The first 45 minutes against Dunfermline we battered them,” said McAlear.

“We totally dominated the first half, but in the second half they scored and got the momentum, they had a lift and we know the mistakes that we did. But it is like a domino effect, once a first mistake happens, there was a second and then a third and fourth.

“Before you know it, the ball is in the back of the net.

“But we need to fix those problems.”

Inverness head to Palmerston tonight looking for their first win in the league since they beat Greenock Morton 2–0 on October 16.

Queen of the South have been struggling this season, currently in ninth place and only two points above Dunfermline at the bottom of the table.

McAlear says he is confident they can end their winless run at Dumfries.

“We can beat any team in this league and we know we are good enough we can go there and beat Queen of the South.

“We will go through the tactical side of it towards the end of the week, and I am confident we can go there and get three points.”

However, McAlear says it’s still too early to speak about the club’s promotion chances.

“We are not even at Christmas, towards the end of the season we will look at it and see who is up there.”
