University of Aberdeen medicine student from Glasgow Luke Nelson wins men's race at Inverness 5k

Aberdeen University medicine student Luke Nelson was crowned men's champion on his debut at the Inverness 5K.

The 19-year-old from Glasgow proved too good for the chasing pack as he took the title in a time of 17 minutes and 15 seconds.

Nelson says he was delighted with his performance considering it was his first time at the event.

"It was my second fastest time ever so I am pretty pleased with it," he said.

"My personal best is 16:55 which was last weekend, the course is pretty fun and I loved finishing on the track."
