Sandy McLeod is happy to place faith in teenager Jake Williamson – just six months after he took up goalkeeping.

With Dougie Maclennan already out long-term from early in the season, there was fresh concern on Saturday as November signing Ryan Hunter went down with a knee injury.

Williamson (19), the son of club legend Robbie, only made the conversion from goalscorer to shot-stopper this year having previously been part of Ross County’s youth set-up.

His performances after stepping in for Maclennan in September and October were sound, though, even amid Clach’s difficult spell of form.

On Saturday, Hunter exited at half-time with a knee injury, with his team trailing 2-1 in the eventual 4-1 home defeat to Deveronvale.

A dismayed McLeod said: “Ryan Hunter had to go off at half-time after aggravating a knee injury he had been carrying for a few weeks.

“That’s really disappointing, but Jake came in and made some good saves despite the outcome."
