MANAGER Ronnie Sharp is not ruling out bringing in more signings to Nairn County this month after landing midfielder Andrew Greig from Formartine United.
The 28-year-old made his debut for Nairn County in the 3–0 Highland League defeat to Brora Rangers on Saturday,
He is the first signing of 2022 at Nairn as Sharp looks to bolster his squad for the second half of the campaign.
Speaking after the defeat to Brora on Saturday, Sharp says he needs to strengthen his playing squad.
“We are always looking about and we need to improve the squad,” said Sharp.
“There is nothing about at the moment that we can see.
“But we are still young and inexperienced and that showed in the first half against Brora. They are a good experienced side.”
Nairn County confirmed Caley Thistle defender Ryan Fyffe will return to Station Park on loan until the end of the season.
But Sharp said Fyffe could be several weeks away until he is ready to return to action as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
Nairn have confirmed they have secured the future of several squad players on new deals.
Winger Sam Gordon and striker Ciaran Young have both agreed new deals to stay until 2025, with defender Fraser Dingwall deciding to extend his contract until the end of next season.
Nairn County remain in ninth place in the Highland League despite their 3–0 defeat at Brora Rangers at Station Park.
The champions blew Nairn away in the first half with Andrew Macrae scoring a first half hat-trick.
He scored his first in the 16th minute before finding his second six minutes later.
Both goals were scored when he connected with crosses into the box unchallenged before being allowed to fire into the net from close range.
His third came in the 31st minute when an impressive display of passing football saw the ball land to MacRae before he fired into the net.
Nairn County improved in the second half, but rarely threatened to find the net to bring themselves back into the game.
Sharp says while he got the reaction he was looking from his players after the break, they gave themselves too much to do.
“The damage was done in the first half, we weren’t aggressive enough in the first half and they played all over us.
“Second half was a lot better and we changed a few things. “You can’t give a team like Brora Rangers that much time and space. They will punish you and they did that in the first half, in the second half we were much better, which is pleasing, but they are a good side.
“We are getting boys back, Andrew Greig came in for the first game but hasn’t trained with us much yet. John Treasurer came in after a long time out through injury. The boys had been out for a long time with Covid and you can see some are still struggling. But hopefully pick up in the next few weeks with boys coming in.”
