MANAGER Duncan Ferguson says he is bringing free agents from Czechia and Portugal on trial as he is looking to ease the injury crisis at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The manager confirmed yesterday that one unnamed player from Portugal was currently on trial at the club with another set to arrive from Czechia.

He says one player might be signed in time for tomorrow’s clash against Greenock Morton.

The injury list is growing after Charlie Gilmour and Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen have both been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Nathan Shaw has picked up a hamstring injury and will be out for at least two weeks.

Inverness will also be missing defenders Nikola Ujdur (hamstring) and Morgan Boyes (knee) through injury.

Midfielder Luis Longstaff will also be out for two months, fellow midfielder Roddy MacGregor is awaiting results of an MRI scan and striker Adam Brooks has sustained a thigh injury.

Ferguson says he is working hard to bring in new players to help them fight against relegation.

“We have been trying really hard to get some players in,” he said.

“I have a lad in from Portugal on trial and I will have another from Czechia flying in on Thursday night or Friday.

“We are also trying to use all our contacts in Scotland to see whether we can bring in someone from other teams.

“Of course, we are all chasing the same players.

Ferguson added: “Our injury list is really bad at the moment.”

“We have only named four outfield players on the bench this week.

“On Tuesday night against Arbroath, I just had attackers on the bench, with no defensive cover.

“It has been tough, but we’re out there trying as best we can and hopefully we can get at least one in before Saturday.

“The club will back me on that.”
