CALUM MacLean is poised to become Fort William FC manager for the second time.

With the board set to rubber-stamp his appointment any day now, MacLean revealed it took him just six temporary games in charge to decide this was the right step for him.

The 50-year-old moved into the Claggan Park hot-seat last month in a caretaker role after Danny Conlon stepped down.

Draws against Wick Academy and Huntly and being edged out 5-3 by 2013 champions Cove Rangers gave Fort the chance to try and climb off the foot of the table in their twice rearranged home fixture against Clach last Friday.

Unfortunately for Fort, the newly-crowned Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup holders ran out 4-1 winners, but the board have seen enough from MacLean to suggest the club are moving in the right direction.

MacLean told the LN: "I saw when I came in for the last six games I would see what was involved and what I had to work with and I am more than happy with what we have. We went right to the last game to try and get off the bottom of the table and it wasn’t to be, but there are plenty of signs that we can improve next season.
