Andrew Mackay sums it up neatly. The 26-year-old Inverness boxer would rather take any number of punches to the face than the blows that have floored his career over the past year.

Repeated setbacks had Mackay contemplating his future as a professional fighter, most notably when a much-trumpeted ‘battle of the Highlanders’ with Gary Cornish fell through in his home city last March.

Now, just over a year after his last competitive fight, the man they call the North Star Boxer should be back in business by October.
