Captain Stuart MacDonald is another player who will be excused from Highland’s last outing of 2018 tomorrow in front of a packed Canal Park.

Head coach Dave Carson has decided to give the number eight a hard-earned extra week of rest ahead of the Christmas break after a successful but arduous first half of the National Two season.

MacDonald joins flanker Gordon Gregor in standing down because of niggling minor impact injuries.

A big crowd is expected for the visit of Whitecraigs, with the spirited Inverness side – four points behind league leaders Biggar – looking to end the first half of the season in style.

“We were thinking about bringing Stuart back into the team this weekend after last week’s lay-off, but we’re going to continue to rest him and let him have a longer break,” Carson said.
