CAR trouble scuppered Donnie MacDonald’s chances of high finish on the season opener of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship in his home city.

Tomorrow, the Inverness driver will be looking for some good fortune this time around as he and navigator Andrew Falconer, who also hails from the Highland capital, head to Jedburgh for the Brick and Steel Construction Border Counties Rally, which features a field of nearly 100 crews.

MacDonald had been eyeing a top seven spot on the Snowman last month, but an electrical problem forced him to call it a day on the final stage.

Last year’s winner Quintin Milne heads an entry list that also includes defending champion David Bogie and Euan Thorburn, the winner of the Snowman, who has Paul Beaton, from Inverness, on notes.

Inverness duo Dougal Brown and Lewis Rochford will aim to keep up the momentum after finishing sixth overall on their home event, while after the first round, John Morrison (Conon Bridge) sits 10th in the overall drivers standings and second in Group N.
