Lovat’s hopes of a first-ever Premiership title were dealt a savage blow when they lost to Newtonmore while leaders Kinlochshiel emphasised their intentions of retaining the title by defeating Glenurquhart to go two points clear of the Kiltarlity side.

At The Eilean, Newtonmore remain three points off top spot courtesy of a convincing 4-1 win over Lovat. Steven MacDonald’s early opener was added to by Iain Robinson in the 16th minute followed by a Drew MacDonald strike before the interval.

Fraser MacKintosh extended the home lead to 4-0 in the 48th minute with Lovat’s sole response coming through a Greg Matheson spot hit in the 67th minute.

Kinlochshiel got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Glenurquhart. After a goalless first half, Ally Nixon edged Shiel in front in the 57th minute with John MacRae adding to the lead seven minutes later.
