Loch Ness begin one of their toughest runs of the season this weekend as they look to get over the line and call themselves North Caledonian League champions.

With four matches left to secure their first crown at this level, Shane Carling’s men take on three of their closest challengers.

That starts with a home match against 2021 champions Golspie Sutherland tomorrow afternoon, with Golspie still looking to win the battle to finish third this season.

Last time out, Golspie got the better of St Duthus, while Loch Ness put 12 past bottom of the table Bonar Bridge.

Realistically, Invergordon look like the only team capable of stopping Loch Ness, but with the two teams not crossing paths in the league again this season the situation is out of their hands.

All they can do is keep winning, starting with a trip to Orkney tomorrow.

Both sides were victorious last time out, with Invergordon seeing off Halkirk United 3–1 and Orkney winning 1–0 against Nairn County A.

There is also an Inverness derby this weekend.

Clachnacuddin A are due to host Inverness Athletic, with each team looking to end the campaign strongly.

Clach’s youngsters did lose out 8–2 to Fort William last week.

Athletic, though, were 2–1 victors against Thurso as they look to stay in the race for third.

As things stand, they are outside bets to due the games in hand their rivals have.

There are only two points between Fort William, currently sitting third, and Athletic in sixth, but the Inverness side have played two extra games.

The Fort, though, are inactive this weekend and so can do nothing to stop other teams making a late charge, while St Duthus face a potentially tricky trip to Halkirk United.

Another battle that could come to fruition in the final weeks of the season is the fight to avoid finishing bottom of the table.

Bonar Bridge are seven points behind Nairn County A, but do have three games in hand that could come to their rescue.

The Wee County make the trip north to Thurso, while Bonar Bridge host Alness United.
