Loch Ness defeat champions Invergordon to stay 10 points clear at the top of the North Caledonian League

LOCH Ness have gone 10 points clear at the top of the North Caledonian League after winning 3-1 at champions Invergordon.

Steven Macdonald gave Loch Ness the lead after nine minutes but Invergordon equalised through Blair Morrison on the stroke of half time to level the score 1-1 at the break.

Josh Race put Loch Ness back in front five minutes after the interval and Allan Macphee killed the game off eight minutes from time to claim all three points.

Loch Ness remain unbeaten in the league this season after 13 games with 11 wins at the halfway point of the season.

St Duthus are in second place with two games in hand on the leaders after they defeated Golspie Sutherland 1-0 in Tain.

Sam Ross scored the only goal of the game at Grant Park.

Inverness Athletic suffered a blow in their title bid when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Orkney at North Kessock.

Owen Rendall gave the Orcadians the lead on the stroke of half time and Chris Simpson doubled their advantage from the penalty spot four minutes after the break.

Ryan Macleod reduced the deficit to one from the penalty spot midway through the second half but Athletic were unable to find an equaliser to rescue a point.

Clachnacuddin A picked up their fourth win of the season when they thrashed Bonar Bridge 6-0.

Clachnacuddin went into the break 2-0 in front thanks to goals from Kai Reid and Sean Reid-Nicol.

After the break, Cammy Neville and Kieran Syrjanen both scored twice to complete the rout.

Nairn County A suffered injury time heartbreak when they went down 4-3 to Alness United at Dalmore Park.

Rory Williamson gave Nairn County A the lead in the first minute.

Ryan McFee equalised for Alness, but Calum Maclean put Nairn 2-1 up at half time.

Alness took the lead in the second half thanks to goals from Ryan Ross and McFee grabbing his second.

Murray Wilson levelled for Nairn three minutes from time, but Stan Keith got the winner for Alness in the 92nd minute.

Fort William beat Thurso 6-0.
