The players, all aged between 14 and 17, were put through their paces under the guidance of national shinty development officer Ronald Ross MBE.

Beauly, Glenurquhart, Strathglass and Lovat were represented at the annual get together. Each player had been nominated by their youth or senior club to take part in the camp, designed to offer the very best in training and guidance to promising young players.

Throughout the week, attendees received specialist training from Camanachd Association coaches based around techniques relating to hitting, dribbling and tackling.

“The Scottish Hydro National Player Development Camp has once again proved a great success and numbers have increased from 2010,” said a delighted Ross.

“Since its inception over 15 years ago, the camp has helped hundreds of young players from across the country to improve all aspects of their game from the technical to the physical elements of the sport.

“The camps are also a great way for the participants to meet other aspiring shinty players, forging ties and friendships throughout the sport.”

At the end of the final day of the camp, several awards were presented by Liam Barn, marketing projects manager for Scottish Hydro. The award winners were as follows:

Player of the Camp — Ewan Brady (Glenurquhart). Most Improved Player — Ewan Harrison (Col Glen). Outstanding Endeavour — Cammy Keith (Kyles Athletic). Skills — Fraser Heath (Glenurquhart). Fitness — Calum Stewart (Newtonmore).
