Dan MacKay believes it could take a moment of magic to separate Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Partick Thistle tonight.

The two teams go into the Glasgow clash with a victory apiece over the other already this season.

Last time Inverness visited Firhill, it was a 4–1 triumph for Ian McCall’s men. However, when the Jags came up to the Highland capital it was Caley Thistle who were celebrating a 1–0 win thanks to Billy Mckay’s 75th minute winner.

MacKay got the assist that day, and he is expecting another contest that could go either way this evening.

“Obviously there were bits in the first Partick game that were all right, and bits that were unacceptable,” MacKay recalled.

“We knew that ourselves, and we were able to put that right.

“We’ve gone on runs away from home and picked up good results at hard places to go in this league, so we want to do that again to leave our fans feeling a wee bit happier on Friday night.

“I thought the last game against them was one of our most complete performances of the season.

“We’ve struggled over the years against teams that have sat in, but we found a way to break them down that night.

“It will probably take a moment of quality like Billy’s finish that night to win on Friday, and hopefully we’ll be the ones on the right side of that.”

On a personal note, the 21-year-old does not feel he has hit his peak yet this season, believing there is still far more to come.

“I would say it’s been all right – some games have been good, others haven’t been as good as I would like to be,” he reasoned.

“I was joking with the gaffer that I would like to score more, but I’ve probably got the most assists I’ve ever had at this point in the season.

“I’ve been contributing in other ways, but I would like to score more. Hopefully I’m just getting going.”

MacKay, and the rest of his teammates, will be well rested after two weeks without playing. Coupled with a Christmas weekend away last week, and the Caley Jags should be refreshed, in high spirits and raring to go.

“We’re not ones to go out on the lash, so it was good to get away with the boys,” MacKay added.

“We’ve got a good team spirit here, and always have. I left and came back, and the dynamics hadn’t changed – there are no cliques, everyone speaks to each other.

“We’re a confident bunch, things might not always go our way on the park but we always believe in each other.

“Now we need to show how together we are, and that there’s no divide – nights out can help with that.”
