GORDON Morrison shared the Grant Street Park pitch with Rangers legends at the weekend as his Clach career finished in some style.

The 36-year-old captain of the Highland League club experienced a roller-coaster of emotions at the weekend, which ended with him leading Clach’s legends to a 4-2 victory against many of Glasgow Rangers biggest star names from recent times.

Following Friday’s sold-out sportsman’s dinner at the Kingsmills Hotel, he was heading to Hampden with some of his beloved Rangers’ heroes for the Scottish Cup final.

That didn’t go to plan as Hibs clinched the famous trophy with a 3-2 win, but then it was a trip back north for Sunday’s testimonial match, with much of the proceeds, the amount of which was unknown at the time of going to press, going to Motor Neurone Disease Scotland.

That was chosen by Morrison to help Gers’ legend Fernando Ricksen, who was in charge the Light Blues’ star-studded team on Sunday which included Andy Goram, Gordon Durie, Derek Ferguson, Jorg Albertz, Nacho Novo and Marco Negri.

Ricksen has been battling the disease for some time and he got a rousing welcome from the fans.

A large crowd piled into Grant Street for the occasion as the Lilywhites side, who were bossed by Angus Morrison, contained current stars and "older heads".

There was delight for the Lilies in an entertaining afternoon as a Shuan Kerr hat-trick and Morrison’s thunderbolt earned them the 4-2 victory.

Speaking at full-time, Morrison said: "To get the chance to be on the pitch with legends such as this doesn’t happen to anyone, so I’ve been really lucky. I have grown up as a Rangers fan, going to their games, so getting the chance to play against them and get to know them over the weekend was brilliant."
