Discus star Kirsty Law will have the chance to end her stellar career in style after she secured a place at the European Championships.

The Commonwealth Games finalist did enough to ensure her place at the event twice over with a typically impressive performance.

She confirmed her place at the championships, which will be held jointly by Glasgow and Berlin next month, by surpassing the 56 metre qualifying standard in two separate competitions at last weekend’s Leira International in Portugal.

On Saturday, just nine days before the selection deadline for the championships, she winged the 1kg implement out to 56.31m which clinched her team place.
