Inverness Harriers athlete Mhairi Maclennan is called up to Scotland squad for Armagh Road Races in Northern Ireland

KIRKHILL athlete Mhairi Maclennan has been called up for the Scotland squad to compete at the Armagh Road Races in Northern Ireland next month.

The Inverness Harriers athlete is one of eight runners who have been called up to compete in the international event on Thursday, February 9 in Armagh.

The 27-year-old is the defending River Ness 10k champion and broke the 16 year record in October when she ran the distance in 33 minutes.

She destroyed the old record by 46 seconds, previously held by Kenyan athlete Cathy Mutwa with 33 minutes and 46 seconds in 2006.
