Putting in a marathon effort to raise money to allow him to compete at the World Kickboxing Championships, Scott Campbell walked 22 miles from his home town to the martial arts studio he trains at in Inverness.

The 14-year-old successfully completed the fundraising stroll from his house in Alness to Raijin Martial Arts in Inverness in his bid to raise £1250 to compete at the World Kickboxing Championship events in Italy and Spain later this year.

The Alness Academy pupil completed the challenge in a time of six hours and 25 minutes when he was given a guard of honour from his fellow club members and a piper’s welcome at the martial arts studio.

Raising £400 to go towards the cost of taking part at the championships, Campbell said it was a tiring experience but it was all worthwhile.

"It was the furthest I have ever walked and at times it was painful," he said. "But it was worth it as I didn’t expect to raise so much. It will be the first time I have competed at the World Championships and I am looking to win."
