THE Camanachd Association have released the key dates for the forthcoming 2012 season.

This year's campaign will begin on Saturday 3rd March with the first major event - the Co-operative Mactavish Cup final - taking place at Bught Park, Inverness, on 16th June.

The Balliemore and Sutherland Cup finals go ahead on consecutive weekends between 21st and 28th July, while Oban's Mossfield Park plays host to the Artemis MacAulay Cup final on 18th August.

The Strathdearn Cup final is pencilled in for 1st September with the Camanachd Cup final scheduled to take place 14 days later.

Bught Park will also provide the venue for the first leg of the Marine Harvest Shinty/Hurling international between Scotland and Ireland, which has been proposed to go ahead on 20th October.

A full list of all the league fixtures for the season ahead is due to be announced by the sports governing body at the beginning of next month.
