HERE is an extract from the latest column by top Scottish women's golfer Kelsey MacDonald, of Nairn, exclusively for The Inverness Courier. To read more, see today's Courier.

"In the last few weeks, I have been starting to get a portfolio ready. It has been fun to do, but rather strange.

Trying to promote yourself is not an easy thing to do, although on a positive note, I can now say that I am a columnist!

This is in preparation for the next step — turning professional. The portfolio I am preparing will hopefully help reach out to sponsors.

I realise in the current economic climate this may prove to be difficult, but I do believe that my golfing achievements already and lively personality will have something to offer a company.

I am also looking into creating a website and have recently joined Twitter. These will act as great marketing tools for myself.

If anyone wants to follow me on Twitter you can @K_Mac_59. I am new, so just getting to grips with it, but it is a very exciting time for me and I am enjoying every minute of it."
