Three Inverness Harriers have been selected to run for Scotland at various age levels in the Great Stirling Cross Country International next month.

Great Britain internationalist Mhairi MacLennan makes another appearance in the senior team while GB under-20 athlete Megan Keith competes at that level and Lucas Cairns is in the under-17 team.

Both women have already won European team gold with Great Britain squads. Keith finished in 27th place at the European Junior Cross Country Championships in Lisbon earlier this month.

The match will incorporate the Home Countries and Celtic Nations international and also the Scottish inter-district match which will involve a large number of club athletes in North District teams.

Amy Hudson won the North District women’s 10-mile road race title at Lossiemouth on Sunday with a personal best time by six minutes of 60:28.

She took third place in the overall women’s race behind Aberdeen Metro’s Fiona Brian who was ineligible for the District title, as was overall runner-up Kerry Prise of Aberdeen AAC (60:22).

Brian’s time of 58:44 was a course personal best.

It was the second fastest ever women’s time behind her Scotland team mate Jenny Bannerman’s who set a course record of 57:49 four years ago.

Seventh overall and district bronze medallist was Catriona Fraser in 66:03 who removed almost two minutes from her personal best.

Fraser’s partner Gordon Lennox was third in the men’s race and district runner up in 55:03.

Junior international high jumper Angus Davren showed a strong second string to his bow when he set a new personal best of 7.09 seconds for the 60 metres at Sunday’s Aberdeen indoor meeting.

This removed 0.19 seconds from his previous best.
