Inverness teenager represents Scotland at London Mini Marathon

TEENAGE athletes from Inverness Harriers and Ross County Athletics Club took part in the London Mini Marathon.
Lois MacRae from Inverness Harriers, along with Caitlyn Heggie and Lachlan Thomas from Ross County Athletics Club were part of the Scotland squad.
The trio were part of the 24-athlete squad which competed in the under-15 and under-17 competitions.
Millburn Academy pupil MacRae put in an impressive performance to be the top Scottish athlete when she came in eighth place in the under-15 girls’ race in a time of eight minutes and 50 seconds.
East athlete Lyla Belshaw claimed victory in the race in a time of 8:26 with Millie Gold from Wales claiming silver in 8:33 and London athlete Katie Pye earning bronze in a time of 8:36.
MacRae helped her team to sixth place overall in the team competition which involved 12 nations and English regions.
Meanwhile, Dingwall Academy pupil Heggie won team gold with Scotland as she helped them come top overall in the under-17 girls group.
Heggie finished in 13th place overall in a time of 8:52.
The under-17 race was won by Innes Fitzgerald in 8:11 from South-West with her teammate Sophie Nicholls in second place with 8:26.
Isobelle Jones finished in third place in a time of 8:32.
Scotland finished on top in the under-17 girls team championship with Northern Ireland in second place and North West in third place.
Invergordon Academy pupil Lachlan Thomas also put in great performance to finish in 14th place in the under-15 section.
Thomas completed the race in a time of 7:54.
His race was won by Evan Grime of North-West in a time of 7:39. Matthew Clark of North-West was in second place in a time of 7:40.
Jon Pepin from South-East was in third place as he recorded a time of 7:42.
Thomas won a team silver medal for Scotland as the came second overall in the team championship.
North-West were the top team with London claiming the bronze.
In addition, Scotland won team bronze in the under-17 race, where South-East claimed gold and North-East claimed a silver medal.
James Dargan of South-East claimed gold in 7:19 with Lughaidh Mallon from Northern Ireland and Corey Campbell from Scotland in second place in 7:22.
