Inverness Tang Soo Do athletes impress at Scottish Open Championship winning 15 medals

Inverness Tang Soo Do athletes won 15 medals at the Scottish Open Tang Soo Do Championship in Elgin.

The club's 10 athletes took on over 185 competitors from all over the UK, Netherlands and Denmark.

The medal tally for the Inverness Team was 15 medals which include six gold, four silver and five bronze.

Master Kelly Murphy was thrilled with the performance of the whole Inverness team, with Layla Urquhart and Tilly Munro gaining medal positions in all the categories they entered.

She said: "This was an early start to the championships season this year, and the team will be working on an enhanced training plan to try and secure golds in all their categories at the British Championships being held in Newcastle at the end of March."

The Inverness Tang Soo Do club trains on Tuesday and Friday evenings at Hilton Community Centre in Inverness.

The Inverness team members won the following:

Black Belts:

Laura Stewart, age 21 – 2nd Bo Staff, 3rd Forms

Ailish Boyd, age 15 – 4th Sparring

Red Belts

Arwen Boyd, age 12 – 4th Bo Staff

Brown Belts

Layla Urquhart, age 11 – 1st Sparring, 2nd Forms, 2nd Bo Staff

Lily Fraser, age 12 – 1st Forms, 1st Bo Staff

Green Belts

Lewis Fraser, age 7 – 3rd Forms, 3rd Bo Staff

Orange Belts

Declan Lawrence, age 10 – 3rd Forms

Tilly Munro, age 9 – 1st Sparring, 1st Bo Staff, 3rd Forms

Aleena Khoyratty, age 8 – 2nd Forms

Arran Polson, age 8 – 1st Forms
