Inverness sisters both celebrate victory at major cross country race at Forres

SISTERS Anna Meek and Katie Meek were the star performers for the Inverness Harriers at the North Cross Country League fixture at Forres.

Anna claimed victory in the under-15 girls race when she won by 43 seconds in a time of 17 minutes and 29 seconds.

Flora Sutherland of Ross County Athletics Club was in second place in a time of 18.12 with Sky Simpson of Inverness Harriers third in a time of 18.30.

Katie powered her way to victory beating her nearest competitor by two minutes to win the under-17 race in a time of 17.08.

Kirsten Burnett of Inverness Harriers was in second place in a time of 19.08 with Ailsa Mackinnon from North Uist third in 20.52

There was also Inverness Harriers success for Niamh Doorley who won the under-13 race in a time of 14.06.

In the under-13 boys race, Inverness Harriers athlete Archie Grant was in a close contest for first place, but finished three seconds behind winner Aaron Tresidder of Lochaber Athletics Club who claimed victory in a time of 12.51.

Inverness Harriers athlete Ewan Thompson finished in second place in the under-15 boys section in a time of 17.29 with George Comisso of Ross County Athletics Club claiming victory by coming home in 16.53.

Inverness Harriers athlete Ruairidh Stirling finished in third place in the under-17 men’s section with a time of 21.08.

Ross County athletes finished first and second with Lachlan Thomas in 20.04 and Ali Young in 20.55.

James Wilson and Gemma Cormack, both of Moray Road Runners, won the men’s and women’s senior races.
