Inverness shooters are on target at National 10 Metre Grand Prix

Inverness hosted the Scottish Target Shooting National 10 metre Grand Prix at the Target Technique Range.

The 60 shot qualification was in four classes and out of the 12 possible medals, Target Technique shooters ran away with six.

Denise Stewart-Thomson of Raigmore Estate achieved a score of 555.0 pipped by her own coach Iain Maoiloin 555.6.

Other scores included Danka Marticova 454.4, Cheryl Black 492.4, Husna Mahmudi 569.7, Maria Maoileoin 569.2, Jon Laing 572.8, Lauren Rogers 581.4, Owen Goodfellow 591.1.

Three Target Technique athletes earned a place in the final with Goodfellow grabbing bronze after finishing in third place.

Rogers battled on to sixth place with Laing in eighth place.

Head coach Maria Maoileoin saysThe Target Technique coaches - who have passed ISSF and NSRA exams - rarely have an opportunity to train themselves as they are often helping train others.

He said: "Its great to fun to compete and be beaten by our own stars, always proud to see their achievements."
