He withdrew from last weekend’s National Indoor Open and the calf tendon problem which affected him has taken some time to clear.

But he is expected to compete in one event on Sunday.

Angus Davren will compete in the high jump and in the 60m where he set a personal best of 7.09 seconds in Aberdeen.

Inverness runner Gillian Gordon competes in the 400m.

The national under-17 championships take place alongside the senior events with Alister MacKay competing in the shot putt Brother and sister Grace and Duncan MacDonald both race over 800m.

Official North cross country league results have now confirmed Inverness Harriers had the narrowest of wins in the women’s contest at Peterhead on Saturday following a 1-2 for Gemma Cormack and Catriona Fraser. Veteran Heather Gardiner was 17th and Rachel Gillies was 27th to complete a single point victory for the competition leaders.

However the appearance of just two Inverness men means that the club must field complete teams in both remaining events to have a chance of defending their team title.

Katie Meek (under-13 girls) and Lois MacRae (under-11 girls) both had individual wins which guarantee them their age group titles.
