Inverness Netball Club win to reach Scottish Cup second round

INVERNESS Netball Club have reached the second round of the Scottish Cup after defeating Westhill 42-40.

Inverness were down 10-6 in the first quarter then neck and neck for the remaining three quarters.

Inverness are waiting to find out their second round opponents.

Meanwhile in the league Inverness Diamonds had their second league fixture against Fyrish Flyers with The Diamonds experience shining through.

It was a fast paced game with plenty of turn overs.

Fyrish stood strong and kept fighting in a very tough fight.

Diamonds kept control of the court with a final score of 82-05. Diamonds player of the match was Claire Williams.

The Inverness Sapphires played their third match of the season against Lossie North. The Sapphires came out strong, and their experience shone through, winning the first quarter 27-0.

The newly formed Lossie team put up a great fight and remained motivated until the final whistle, a difficult composure to keep. The Sapphires dominance remained consistent throughout, and they went onto win the game 100-7 – a record score line this season so far.

The player of the match was the imposing attacker Leia Pol, who was a vital assist to the skilled shooters in reaching the impressive 100 goals.

Inverness Rubies came up against Gordonstoun, with Rubies fighting for every goal pulling into the lead by half time with some strong defensive work in the circle by Goal Keep Emma Taylor.

The third quarter was won by Gordonstoun with an impressive influx of goals scored.

Gordonstouns put on the pressure and took the win in the last five seconds with the final score , of 30-29. Player of the match went to Anna McDiarmid with a very strong game throughout winning intercepts and controlling the game.

Inverness Emeralds welcomed Thurso with the match started off strong in Thurso’s favour.

The Emeralds managed to keep up the pace trying to keep up with the Thursos score line.

Some great play from both teams meant the second and third quarters were evenly matched.

Emeralds dominated the court in the third quarter in the hope of closing the gap but it wasn’t meant to be as Thurso went for the win.

Whilst the final score was 52-24 it was a strong performance for the Emeralds who are brand new to the league this season.
