The announcement was made today that Houston has joined one of the top MMA promotions in the world, two weeks after leaving rival organisation Cage Warriors.

Houston became Cage Warriors world welterweight champion defeating Italian Stefano Paterno by split decision in October 2018.

He held on to the belt until the start of February when he left the organisation.

Houston says he is now aiming to make a major statement in Bellator.

Releasing a statement on his Facebook site he said: "Never in my life did I think that what started off as a hobby down my local gym would play such a massive part in my life and put me in the position I’m now sitting in today.

"I’m truly grateful and feel blessed to have had such a good group of people around me helping me reach this level.

"This is just to start. I’ve not reached my prime yet and have so much more still to give.

"We chose Bellator because of the depth of their welterweight division and the elite world class challenges that we are going to face and defeat on our way to the belt."
