The midfielder suffered a tear to his thigh in the 0-0 draw against Arbroath, which is also expected to keep him out of next week’s game with Queen of the South.

Head coach Billy Dodds says it is a huge blow as they look to close the gap with league leaders Arbroath.

“Aaron Doran is out for a couple of weeks due to a tear in his thigh,” said Dodds.

“He is a big miss, he is a forward creative player doing well, and I’m disappointed he is out.”

However, Dodds expects to have a strong squad available to take on Raith Rovers, who are only one point behind them in the Championship.

Inverness have taken four points from Raith Rovers in the Championship this season, including a 1-0 home win in August and a 1-1 draw at Kirkcaldy in November. Although Raith did knock Inverness out of the Trust Trophy quarter-finals on penalties.

But Raith have only scored one goal in their last six games in all competitions.

Dodds says he is still aware of the danger Raith pose Inverness and he respects them as one of the challengers for the title this season.

“The one thing about Raith Rovers is they like the little ball players and retain possession.

“That is the way John McGlynn coaches and it has rubbed off. To be where they are is excellent, and they will be hoping to push for the title.

“He is trying to find a couple of strikers. They have not scored a lot of goals in the last few weeks, but that does not make them any less dangerous.

“They have played well, and we can’t let them get their confidence up.

“They have not got the right results in recent weeks, and it is up to us to make sure that lasts another week longer.”

Dodds said there were no developments at the club regarding the transfer window.

But he said any new personnel coming in must convince him they can play a role in the squad, and enable them to stay in the hunt for the title and promotion to the Premiership next season.

“We want to do the right business because we know how tricky a window it is,” said Dodds.

“When I was at Ross County, Jim McIntyre and I worked to get the right ones in, and we were lucky where we had good January transfer window, and it gave us a lift. If we do business here, I hope it will give us the push to sustain the title challenge.”
