INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle have dropped to fourth in the Championship after suffering defeat in Glasgow.
Kevin Holt's low drive in the 85th minute from 12-yards out proved to be the difference and give Partick Thistle all three points.
Caley Thistle have now gone 11 games without a win, but still remain in contention for the play-offs at the end of the regular season.
However, they could fall out of the play-off zone tomorrow if Raith Rovers beat Ayr United.
There was one change to the starting line-up for Caley Thistle as David Carson returned to the starting line-up with Lewis Hyde relegated to the bench.
Partick Thistle had the chance to take the lead early on when Lewis Mayo managed to create space in the box. But from eight yards out he hit wide of the right post.
The hosts had a massive chance to take the lead midway through the first half when Juan Alegria beat the offside trap to run on to a long ball with only the goalkeeper to beat.
But he chipped the ball too high over Cammy Mackay as it failed to dip under the crossbar.
Caley Thistle had their first real chance of the match midway through the first half. Aaron Doran and Austin Samuels linked up well with each other with the striker having a shot on goal which went inches wide of the left post.
David Carson came to the rescue of Inverness when Kirk Broadfoot looked to have inadvertently sent Ciaran McKenna’s cross towards the back of the net.
But from four yards out, the full back managed to clear the ball over the bar to keep the game goalless.
But Partick piled on the pressure in the first half and Alegria almost made them pay when there was a lack of communication in the Inverness defence that allowed the Colombian to pounce on a loose ball and his strike hit the left post.
Inverness started the second half brightly and Joe Hardy pulled off a decent volley when he connected with a cross into the box forcing a good save from Jamie Sneddon.
Hower both sides were cancelling each other out with neither team really creating any chances for the majority of the second half.
But Partick Thistle grabbed the winner five minutes from time when Holt was allowed to connect with a low drive from a corner kick and fired a low drive past MacKay
