The Inverness athletes were selected by national coaches as their top four athletes to compete at the event.

They will all train for two hours with top British coaches, followed by a competition in preparation for the European Championship.

Howarth will win her second Scottish cap. She finished in seventh place at the Commonwealth Games last August and medalled at many events over the years.

Borthwick (14) won gold medals in three events at the Cumbria Open last year.

Both athletes are coached by former Scottish and British Karate champion sensei Dolina Ross.

The competition takes place on Sunday, January 22.
