Inverness ice skaters compete at British Championships in Nottingham

Highland Synchronized Ice Skating Teams had four teams representing the Highlands at the British Synchronized Ice Skating Championships in Nottingham.

It is one of the highlights of the UK Synchronized skating calendar with more than 60 teams competing across 14 categories.

Highland Pups moved from the Beginner to Juvenile category this season skating to music from the Polar Express.

They gained a new personal best score and coming in fifth place.

Aurora
Aurora

Aurora competed in the Intermediate category skating to music from Hannah Montana.

Only four of the team have competed at this level before and for many it was their first competition as they finished in seventh place.

Northern Lights

The club's mixed age team Northern Lights skated to Bonnie Tyler’s Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts coming in eighth place.

Highlanders
Highlanders

The club's adult team Highlanders finished in sixth place when they performed their brand new 80s programme.

The teams train at Inverness Ice Centre and Aviemore Ice Rink and are coached by Amanda Clinton and Eilish Rennie.

Club spokeswoman Sarah Mackintosh says there was terrific performances from all four teams at the competition.

She said: "All the club's teams were showcasing new programmes and a number of skaters were competing for the first time including one of our youngest members at the age of six.

"Our skaters, coaches and team managers are now busily organising the clubs next competition, Trophy D’Ecosse in Dumfries in 2 weeks time.

"The teams are excited to get back on the ice, improve their scores and compete for the title of Scottish Champions in their categories."
