Muir of Ord teenager claims win at Forres 10k

INVERNESS Harriers teenager Caitlyn Heggie continued her impressive road running form in 2024 as she claimed the women’s title at the Forres 10k.

The Muir of Ord teenager proved too fast for the chasing pack as she claimed victory in the women’s race with a winning time of 37 minutes and three seconds.

She was almost three minutes ahead of her nearest challenger Fiona Matheson of Falkirk Victoria Harriers who finished in second place in a time of 39:51.

Kirstie Rogan of Highland Hill Runners finished in third place in a time of 41:14.

Heggie, a sixth year pupil at Dingwall Academy, has impressed on the road running circuit this season.

In March, she picked up two major victories on the north circuit, winning the Nairn 10k and the Moray Road Runners 10k at Miltonduff.

Asiya Cunningham of Inverness Harriers also put in a good performance as she finished in fourth place in a time of 42:32.

In the men’s race, Kris Urquhart of Aberdeen Athletics Club took the title as he claimed victory in a time of 32:13.

He claimed a winning margin of 53 seconds with Shaun Cumming of East Sutherland Athletics Club in second place in a time of 33:06.

James Wilson of Moray Road Runners, who won the Nairn 10k and Moray Road Runners 10k in March, finished in third place in a time of 33:27.

Lucas Cairns was the best performing Inverness Harriers athlete finishing in fourth place in a time of 34:57.

Gordon Lennox of East Sutherland Athletics Club was fifth in 35:13 with Ryan Mackenzie of Highland Hill Runners in sixth place in 36:46.
